Top 10 Tallest Buildings In The World



A skyscraper is a tall, continuously habitable building. There is no official definition or height above which a building may clearly be classified as a skyscraper.Here I have created list of top 10  tallest buildings in the world.

1.Burj Khalifa-Dubai


known as Burj Dubai prior to its inauguration, is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and the tallest man-made structure ever built, at 828 m (2,717 ft) Construction began on 21 September 2004, with the exterior of the structure completed on 1 October 2009. The building officially opened on 4 January 2010. The tower's architecture and engineering were performed by Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill of Chicago. Adrian Smith. The total cost for the Burj Khalifa project was about US$1.5 billion and With Dubai itself mired in a deep financial crisis that forced it to seek repeated billion-dollar bailouts from its oil-rich neighbor Abu Dhabi, the opening ceremony and surprise renaming of the tower to Burj Khalifa, after UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

2.Taipei 101-Taipei
Taipei 101also known as the Taipei Financial Center, is a landmark skyscraper located in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan.The building ranked officially as the world's tallest from 2004 until the opening of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Taipei 101, designed by C.Y. Lee & Partners and constructed primarily by KTRT Joint Venture and numerous subcontractors including Samsung C&T.Taipei 101 comprises 101 floors above ground and 5 floors underground. Taipei 101 is owned by the Taipei Financial Center Corporation (TFCC) and managed by the International division of Urban Retail Properties Corporation based in Chicago.

3.Shanghai World Financial Center-Shanghai
SWFC is a supertall skyscraper in Pudong, Shanghai, China. It is a mixed use skyscraper which consists of offices, hotels, conference rooms, observation decks, and shopping malls on the ground floors including Park Hyatt Shanghai which is the highest hotel in the world.On 28 August 2008, the SWFC officially opened for business and two days later, the Observation Deck opened with a view from 3 levels.Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and the construction work started on 27 August 1997 but due to asian finacial crisis project completed on  17 July 2008.

4.International Commerce Centre-Hong Kong
ICC Tower  is a 118 floor, 484 m (1,588 ft) skyscraper completed in West Kowloon, Hong Kong; as part of the Union Square project built on top of Kowloon Station.The development is owned and jointly developed by MTR Corporation Limited and Sun Hung Kai Properties, Hong Kong's metro operator and largest property developer respectively.Upon completion in 2010, the skyscraper became Hong Kong's tallest building and has the third highest roof in the world, after Burj Khalifa and the Shanghai World Financial Center.

5.Petronas Twin Towers-Kuala Lumpur
The Petronas Twin Towers also known as Twin Towers, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia were the world's tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004, when their height was surpassed by Taipei 101. The towers remain the tallest twin buildings in the world.Designed by Argentine architects César Pelli and Djay Cerico under the consultancy of Julius Gold, the Petronas Towers were completed in 1998 after a seven year build and became the tallest buildings in the world on the date of completion.

6.Nanjing Greenland Financial Center-China
The Nanjing Greenland Financial Center  is a 450-metre (1,480 ft) supertall skyscraper completed in April 2010 in Nanjing, China. The 89-story building features retail and office space in the lower section, and restaurants and a public observatory near the top. The tower’s stepping is functional, helping separate these sections.Marshall Strabala and Adrian Smith, who also worked together to design Burj Khalifa, designed the competition winning building for the Nanjing Greenland Financial Center.

7.Willis Tower-Chicago
Willis Tower, formerly named Sears Tower, is a 108-story 1,451 feet (442 m) skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois. In 1974, it was the tallest building in the world. Currently, Willis Tower is the tallest building in the United States and the fifth-tallest freestanding structure in the world as well as the fifth tallest building in the world to the roof.

8.Guangzhou West Tower-China
Guangzhou West Tower  is a 103 story, 440.2 m (1,444 ft) tall supertall skyscraper. Construction of Guangzhou West Tower, designed by Wilkinson Eyre.IFC was constructed and is owned by IFC Development, a consortium of Sun Hung Kai Properties, Henderson Land and Towngas.

9.Trump International Hotel and Tower-Chicago
The Trump International Hotel and Tower, also known as Trump Tower Chicago and locally as the Trump Tower, is a skyscraper condo-hotel in downtown Chicago, Illinois. The building, named after real estate developer Donald Trump.It was designed by architect Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and built by Bovis Lend Lease.When topped out in 2009 it became the second-tallest building in the United States after Chicago's Willis Tower.

10.Jin Mao Tower-Shanghai
The Jin Mao Tower is an 88-story landmark supertall skyscraper in the Lujiazui area of the Pudong district of Shanghai in China.It contains offices and the Shanghai Grand Hyatt hotel.It was designed by the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
